Host plants: This insect is a polyphagous pest with a broad range of hosts. It primarily infests deciduous trees, including various fruit-bearing species such as apricot, peach, almond, and apple trees. Additionally, it can damage grapevines and is frequently identified in structural timber, making it a serious threat to both orchard health and stored wood products.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Trichoferus fasciculatus typically spans several years. Adult females deposit eggs into crevices in the bark or existing wounds on tree trunks. Upon hatching, the larvae bore into the wood, creating extensive galleries filled with frass. The larval stage is responsible for the most significant structural damage to the tree, culminating in pupation within the galleries.

Damage and economic impact: The damage is caused by the larval feeding, which disrupts the tree's vascular system, leading to branch dieback and, in severe cases, the death of the entire tree.
