Description

The Southern powderpost beetle (Trogoxylon impressum) is a member of the Bostrichidae family within the order Coleoptera. This insect is recognized as a significant technical pest that targets dry, seasoned wood, causing substantial structural and economic damage to timber and wooden artifacts.

These beetles primarily infest hardwoods, with a marked preference for species such as oak, ash, and walnut. They are frequently identified as pests in indoor environments, infesting hardwood flooring, furniture, structural building components, and stored lumber that has not been treated against wood-boring insects.

The biology of the beetle revolves around its larval stage. Adults lay eggs in the pores or small cracks of the wood.
