The Schaeffer's longhorn beetle (Xylotrechus schaefferi) is a member of the Cerambycidae family within the order Coleoptera. This species is recognized as a significant wood-boring pest that can cause substantial damage to various deciduous tree species in forest ecosystems and urban plantings.

The primary host plants susceptible to this beetle include species such as oak, hornbeam, and beech. The larvae are particularly attracted to weakened, stressed, or storm-damaged trees, where they bore through the bark to feed on the inner tissues, effectively disrupting the vascular system of the host plant.
