Zeuzera multistrigata is a moth species belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Cossidae. It is recognized as a significant wood-boring pest, particularly within agricultural and forestry settings, where its larvae tunnel deep into the stems and branches of host trees.

The host range of this pest primarily includes various fruit and nut-bearing trees, such as apple, pear, and walnut, as well as many ornamental and wild woody species. Infestations are particularly problematic in young orchards where the structural integrity of the main trunk is critical for the long-term survival of the trees.

The biology of Zeuzera multistrigata involves a life cycle that often spans one to two years depending on environmental conditions. Adult females deposit eggs on the bark. Upon hatching, the larvae penetrate the bark and begin boring tunnels into the wood, where they remain protected from external environmental factors and many predators.

The damage caused by this pest is primarily internal. Larval feeding destroys vascular tissues, which disrupts the transport of water and nutrients throughout the tree. Visible symptoms include wilted foliage, dieback of branches, and sawdust-like frass accumulating at the entrance holes, eventually leading to tree snapping or death.
