The herbicidal mode of action involves the inhibition of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). By blocking this enzyme, the plant is unable to synthesize essential amino acids such as valine, leucine, and isoleucine. This metabolic disruption leads to a rapid cessation of weed growth, with chlorosis and subsequent necrosis appearing shortly after application.
