Buprofezin

Adults that come into contact with the product lose their reproductive ability, laying sterile eggs.

The product is most effective against a wide range of homopteran insects, specifically whiteflies, scales, soft scales, and certain species of leafhoppers. In agronomic practice, buprofezin is frequently used on greenhouse vegetable crops, citrus fruits, vineyards, and ornamental plants. It demonstrates excellent results in suppressing populations of greenhouse whitefly.

Application requirements emphasize the importance of thorough coverage of plant surfaces with the spray solution, as the substance has moderate systemic activity and performs best upon direct contact. The optimal time for application is during the period of mass hatching of first and second-instar larvae. It is crucial to note that the effect is not immediate, as expected from an insect growth regulator.

Safety measures when handling buprofezin include the use of standard personal protective equipment for skin and respiratory tract protection. The substance has moderate toxicity to humans, but strict adherence to pre-harvest intervals (PHI) is required. Additionally, contamination of water sources should be avoided, as the compound can be hazardous to aquatic life.
