The mechanism of action is based on the direct inhibition of mycelial growth and sporulation of pathogens, as well as the stimulation of the plant's production of phytoalexins — natural compounds responsible for the immune response. Due to its systemic properties, choline hydrogen phosphonate is absorbed into plant tissues and moves systemically, providing protection for both existing and developing plant organs.

The product is widely used on a variety of crops, including vineyards, potatoes, and both open-field and greenhouse vegetables. The main objective of its application is to combat oomycetes, which cause diseases such as late blight, downy mildew (peronospora), and various types of rots that significantly reduce total crop yields.

Application practices involve using the product both for preventative treatments and upon the appearance of the first disease symptoms. The substance is generally compatible with other plant protection products in tank mixes, although a compatibility test is recommended. An important advantage is the lack of pathogen resistance development to this active ingredient when used correctly.
