Cyflumetofen
Description
Cyflumetofen belongs to the benzoylacetonitrile chemical class and is recognized as a highly selective acaricide. It is primarily utilized in modern agriculture to manage populations of phytophagous mites, which are major pests for various high-value crops.
The mode of action of this active ingredient involves the inhibition of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, specifically targeting complex II. By interfering with the energy metabolism of the mites, cyflumetofen effectively causes paralysis and rapid death of the pests.
The substance shows high efficacy against a wide range of mite species, including the spider mite family. It is particularly effective against both motile stages and larvae, offering growers a robust solution to prevent crop damage during the critical stages of plant development.
It is widely applied in orchards, vineyards, and various vegetable crops grown in both open and greenhouse environments. A significant advantage of cyflumetofen is its low impact on beneficial insects, such as pollinators and predatory mites, which makes it an ideal choice for integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
When applying cyflumetofen, it is crucial to ensure thorough spray coverage to achieve the best results due to its contact nature. Operators must adhere to standard safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment and following regional regulations regarding the application rates and pre-harvest intervals.
