Active ingredient

Dimethenamid-P

Description

Dimethenamid-P is a high-performance, selective, systemic herbicide belonging to the chloroacetamide chemical class. As a purified isomer of dimethenamid, it offers superior herbicidal activity, allowing for lower application rates while maintaining excellent residual control against a wide array of problematic weeds in various field crops.

The primary mechanism of action involves the inhibition of cell division and protein synthesis in germinating weeds. The active ingredient is absorbed primarily through the coleoptiles and hypocotyls of emerging seedlings, effectively disrupting their development before they can emerge through the soil surface. This pre-emergence activity is crucial for protecting crops from early-season weed competition.

This substance is widely utilized in the cultivation of corn, soybeans, sunflowers, and sugar beets. It demonstrates high efficacy against various annual grass weeds, including foxtail species, barnyard grass, and crabgrass, and also provides control for specific broad-leaved weeds. Its residual activity creates a persistent protective barrier in the soil.

Regarding application, the herbicide requires adequate soil moisture to remain active and form a uniform barrier. It can be applied pre-plant incorporated or post-plant pre-emergence. Optimal results depend on seedbed preparation, as the soil should be fine and free of large clods to ensure consistent coverage of the herbicide layer.

When handling Dimethenamid-P, strict safety measures must be followed, consistent with local regulations for crop protection products. Operators should use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent skin and eye contact. Proper storage and disposal protocols are essential to protect the environment and ensure safe agricultural practices.
