Dinocap
Description
Dinocap is a chemical compound belonging to the dinitro-phenol class. In agronomy, it is widely recognized as a contact fungicide with significant acaricidal activity, providing a dual-action approach for protecting various crops from fungal pathogens and mites.
The mode of action of Dinocap involves the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation within the cells of target organisms. This process effectively disrupts the energy metabolism of fungi, specifically those causing powdery mildew, and interferes with the respiratory processes of mites, preventing their development and reproduction.
It is primarily utilized for the control of powdery mildew on crops such as grapes, fruits, and vegetables. By inhibiting the development of fungal spores and adult mites, the active ingredient serves as a valuable tool for maintaining plant health during the critical stages of the growing season.
Due to its contact nature, Dinocap requires thorough application coverage. Because the active substance does not possess systemic properties, it does not translocate within the plant. Farmers must ensure that the working solution reaches all parts of the foliage, particularly the undersides of leaves where pests and pathogens often reside.
Safety precautions are paramount when handling Dinocap due to its toxicity to humans and non-target organisms. Operators must use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow strict application protocols.
