(E)-9-dodecen-1-yl acetate is a synthetic pheromone belonging to the class of unsaturated fatty acid acetates. It acts as an attractant or mating disruptor specifically targeting various species of moths, particularly those within the Tortricidae family. It serves as a sophisticated tool for integrated pest management (IPM) rather than a traditional chemical insecticide.

The mechanism of action involves the release of synthetic pheromones into the field to mimic the scent produced by females. By elevating the ambient concentration of these compounds, the male insects are unable to locate the females, effectively inhibiting mating and preventing the production of the next generation of larvae. This strategy is known as the mating disruption technique.

The substance is primarily used in commercial fruit orchards and vineyards.
