The mechanism of action for ethaboxam involves the inhibition of cell division within the fungal pathogen. By specifically binding to the beta-tubulin protein, the substance prevents the formation of microtubules during mitosis. This disruption effectively halts the growth and sporulation of the fungus, leading to the rapid inhibition of disease progression.

This fungicide is predominantly applied to crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, grapevines, and various vegetable species. It is particularly valued for its efficacy against Phytophthora infestans and various Peronospora species, providing a robust defensive barrier that helps maintain crop vigor and overall health during critical growth stages.
