Active ingredient

Isoprothiolane

Description

Isoprothiolane is a highly effective active ingredient belonging to the dithiolane chemical class. This compound serves as a specialized fungicide primarily utilized in global rice production to protect crops from a broad spectrum of pathogenic microorganisms.

The mechanism of action involves a systemic effect on the pathogen's metabolic processes. Isoprothiolane inhibits mycelial growth and blocks spore formation, effectively preventing the further spread of infection within plant tissues. Furthermore, the substance exhibits a growth-stimulating effect, promoting root system development and accelerating grain maturation.

The primary application of isoprothiolane is the protection of rice against blast (Pyricularia oryzae), which is the most devastating disease for this crop. Additionally, the fungicide demonstrates high efficacy in managing diseases such as stem rot, helminthosporium leaf spot, and other fungal infections that proliferate under high humidity conditions.

Application features include the flexibility to apply the product via foliar spraying or by direct water application in paddy fields. Due to its systemic movement through xylem and phloem, the active ingredient quickly translocates to all plant parts, providing a long-lasting protective effect against fungal pathogens.

Safety precautions when handling isoprothiolane require the use of standard personal protective equipment for the skin and respiratory system. The product is moderately hazardous to bees and aquatic organisms; therefore, it is essential to avoid spray drift into adjacent water bodies and to comply with environmental safety regulations during the flowering period of the crops.
