Metazachlor

Metazachlor is a selective, systemic herbicide belonging to the chloroacetanilide chemical family. It is widely employed in professional agriculture to provide effective long-term control of both annual grasses and a variety of broad-leaved weeds, ensuring optimal growing conditions for target crops.

The mode of action of metazachlor involves the inhibition of cell division and protein synthesis within the germinating weed seeds. By forming a protective barrier in the top layer of the soil, the active ingredient is absorbed by the roots and hypocotyls of emerging weeds. This leads to the disruption of their development at a very early stage, effectively preventing them from competing with the main crop.

Metazachlor is primarily used in the cultivation of oilseed rape (canola).
