A powerful soil-applied barrier that clears your fields of weeds before rapeseed emerges.
Description
A robust shield for winter rapeseed
When heading out to the fields with Butisan® Avant by Basf S.A., the peace of mind regarding the upcoming harvest is what matters most. As a soil-applied herbicide, it works proactively. Its primary mission is to create an impenetrable barrier for weeds before they even have a chance to emerge above the soil surface.
Field application and operational insights
From an operator's perspective, a systematic approach is key. Since this is a pre-emergence product, the quality of soil preparation is critical. The more uniformly the product is applied, the fewer chances weeds like common lambsquarters or cleavers have to survive. The application rate of 1.0–2.0 L/ha allows for flexibility depending on the weed pressure, which helps optimize input costs per hectare without sacrificing control.
- Selectivity: High efficiency. Rapeseed thrives while weeds like pigweed, shepherd's purse, and scentless mayweed are successfully suppressed.
- Technology: The synergy of dimethenamid-P and metazachlor creates a powerful tandem against resilient weeds such as common chickweed or common fumitory.
- Maintenance: The emulsion concentrate form mixes easily and does not clog sprayer nozzles, saving valuable time during equipment cleaning and maintenance.
Working with this Brazilian-made herbicide, you realize that one quality pre-emergence treatment is worth much more than spending the entire summer fighting overgrown weeds that steal nutrients and moisture from your crop. With a Class 3 hazard rating, standard safety protocols are sufficient to ensure a smooth and effective application process.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
