Prosulfocarb

Description

Prosulfocarb is a highly effective active ingredient belonging to the thiocarbamate chemical class. Functionally, it is a systemic herbicide designed for the control of a broad spectrum of annual broad-leaved and some grass weeds in various agricultural crops.

The mechanism of action of prosulfocarb involves the inhibition of lipid synthesis and the suppression of growth in the meristematic tissues of weed seedlings. The substance is absorbed primarily through the coleoptile and roots of germinating weeds, leading to their death before emergence or at the very early seedling stage.

Prosulfocarb is mainly used in the cultivation of potatoes and cereal crops. It is essential when managing high weed pressure, effectively controlling species such as cleavers (Galium aparine), common lambsquarters, black nightshade, and several grass weed species.

To achieve maximum efficacy, application should be carried out strictly pre-emergence of the crop. An important agronomic requirement is the presence of adequate soil moisture, as prosulfocarb needs to be evenly distributed within the topsoil layer to form a reliable protective barrier.

When handling this herbicide, strict safety precautions must be followed: the use of personal protective equipment for the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes is mandatory. The product requires adherence to the specified application rates, as excessive concentrations can negatively impact crop development, and the soil type must be taken into account to prevent potential phytotoxicity.
