Active ingredient

Pyraclostrobin

Description

Pyraclostrobin is a potent active ingredient belonging to the strobilurin class, widely utilized in global agriculture as a broad-spectrum fungicide. It acts as a preventative and curative agent, essential for managing a vast range of fungal pathogens that compromise the health and productivity of diverse agricultural crops.

The mode of action for pyraclostrobin involves inhibiting mitochondrial respiration in fungal cells by binding to the Qo site of the cytochrome bc1 complex. This disruption prevents the pathogen from generating ATP, effectively halting spore germination and mycelial growth, which prevents the infection from spreading throughout the plant tissue.

This substance is effectively used on various crops including cereals, maize, soybeans, sunflowers, vegetables, and grapes. It provides robust control against a wide array of diseases, such as leaf spot, rust, powdery mildew, and net blotch. Its versatility allows farmers to manage complex disease pressure during critical growth stages.

A distinctive feature of pyraclostrobin is its ability to induce physiological benefits in plants, often referred to as the "AgCelence" effect. Applications can improve photosynthetic efficiency, increase biomass, and enhance plant stress tolerance against heat, cold, or drought, ultimately contributing to higher yield potential and grain quality.

To ensure safe and effective use, it is critical to follow label instructions, use recommended personal protective equipment, and prevent environmental contamination. To prevent the development of resistance in fungal populations, it is strongly advised to rotate pyraclostrobin with fungicides containing different modes of action and limit the total number of applications per season.
