Quintozene (pentachloronitrobenzene) is a contact-action fungicide classified within the chloronitrobenzene chemical group. It is primarily utilized in agricultural and horticultural practices as a soil treatment agent and for seed dressing, specifically designed to control soil-borne pathogenic fungi that threaten the emergence and early development of crops.

The mechanism of action of quintozene centers on inhibiting the metabolic processes of fungal cells. By disrupting cellular respiration and protein synthesis, the substance prevents the germination of spores and significantly retards the growth of fungal mycelium.
