Nozzle

A nozzle is a precision-engineered tip attached to a sprayer that regulates the flow of liquid and breaks it into droplets of a specific size and pattern.

The nozzle is the most critical component of a sprayer as it dictates the distribution pattern, droplet spectrum, and drift potential. Selecting the appropriate nozzle ensures that the active ingredient reaches its target effectively while minimizing environmental impact.

Farmers must choose between flat fan, air-induction, or hollow cone designs depending on the chemicals used and environmental conditions. Air-induction nozzles are highly recommended for reducing spray drift during windy operations, whereas standard flat fans are ideal for broadcast soil applications.

Common operational mistakes involve using worn nozzles that no longer meet flow specifications, operating at incorrect pressures, and failing to maintain the proper boom height, which results in uneven application and reduced efficacy of the crop protection product.
