This biological partnership allows the fern to pull nitrogen directly from the atmosphere, turning it into a high-quality biomass rich in nutrients.
Originating from the Americas, this species thrives in tropical and temperate water bodies. It is widely cultivated globally, particularly in regions where rice production is central to the economy. Regarding climate and environment, Mexican azolla is sensitive to extreme temperatures and high salinity.
