Lapland small-reed (Latin: Calamagrostis lapponica) is a robust perennial grass species belonging to the Poaceae family. Known for its resilience in extreme environments, it serves as a critical component of vegetation in subarctic and arctic ecosystems worldwide.
The species is primarily native to the northern latitudes of Eurasia and North America. It thrives in diverse environments, including tundra zones, bogs, and alpine slopes. In an agricultural context, its cultivation is centered on utilizing its hardiness to provide forage in regions where more sensitive crops fail to produce reliable biomass.
