Zabel's sea holly

Zabel's sea holly (Eryngium x zabelii) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. It is a garden hybrid resulting from a cross between Eryngium alpinum and Eryngium bourgatii. This plant is highly prized in horticulture for its structural foliage and intense, metallic blue flower heads that retain their color well into late summer.

Originating from European breeding programs, this hybrid was developed to bring together hardiness and exceptional aesthetic appeal. It is widely cultivated in temperate regions, where its architectural shape and unique color palette make it a standout choice for various garden styles, including cottage, rock, and modern minimalist landscapes.
