Rough bedstraw (Galium asprellum) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family. While it possesses distinct botanical traits typical of the bedstraw genus, in agricultural landscapes, it is primarily managed as a troublesome weed that can interfere with crop growth and harvesting processes due to its sprawling, clinging habit.
The species is native to North America, where it thrives in diverse environments including wet meadows, swampy areas, and wooded edges. Its range has expanded into cultivated areas where it exploits high soil moisture and nutrient availability.
