Croatian micromeria (Micromeria croatica) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is a compact, mat-forming subshrub known for its refined appearance and aromatic foliage, which releases a refreshing scent when brushed against or crushed.
The species originates from the mountainous regions of the Balkans, specifically Croatia. Its natural habitat consists of rocky limestone outcrops and dry, exposed slopes. This evolutionary background makes the plant exceptionally hardy and well-adapted to environments where soil nutrition is low and water drainage is rapid.
Botanically, it is characterized by woody stems at the base and narrow, small leaves. Its growth habit is prostrate or ascending, making it an excellent candidate for ground cover in dry garden beds.
