Botryosphaeria dieback is a serious fungal disease complex caused by various species within the Botryosphaeriaceae family. These ascomycete fungi are well-known plant pathogens responsible for causing cankers, branch dieback, and eventual tree decline across a wide range of woody hosts globally.
The host range is extensive, significantly affecting economically important crops such as apple, peach, pear, grapevine, and walnut trees. Ornamental plants and forest species are also frequently impacted, especially when they are under environmental pressure or suffering from nutrient deficiencies.
