Crinkly leaf is a viral disease caused by the Citrus crinkly leaf virus (CCLV), a member of the Nepovirus genus. This disease primarily targets citrus species, leading to systemic infection that affects the development and physiological integrity of the host plant.

The primary hosts for this pathogen are members of the Citrus genus, including lemons, oranges, and grapefruit. The virus is particularly problematic in nursery environments where grafting is a standard practice, as it spreads efficiently through the use of infected budwood or scion material.

The characteristic symptoms include puckering, wrinkling, and thickening of the leaves, which often appear stunted or distorted.
