Leaf blight (caused by the fungus Discostroma corticola) is a destructive plant disease that primarily targets the cortical and foliar tissues of various hosts. This pathogen is known for its ability to cause rapid necrosis and limb dieback, posing a significant threat to both ornamental and industrial agricultural sectors.
The host range for this pathogen includes several economically important plants. Discostroma corticola has been documented affecting coconut palms, various species of mint (field, peppermint, and spearmint), almond trees, plane trees, and monocots such as sugarcane and sorghum. Its adaptability allows it to thrive in diverse ecological niches.
