Malvastrum yellow

Malvastrum yellow is a viral-like disease that severely impacts plants of the Malvaceae family. The pathogen interferes with the plant’s ability to conduct photosynthesis, leading to systemic decline. Because it is a viral condition, it is critical to manage the vectors that allow the pathogen to move between plants in a garden or nursery setting.

This disease primarily targets the Malvastrum genus and related ornamental Malvaceae. While some wild species may show mild symptoms, cultivated varieties are often highly susceptible, leading to significant economic loss for nurseries and a decline in the aesthetic value of landscapes where these plants are heavily used.
