Mycosphaerellaceae represents a large family of ascomycetous fungi known as significant plant pathogens. These organisms affect a vast range of hosts, including cereals, fruits, vegetables, and ornamental trees. The fungi are characterized by their ability to produce sexual and asexual spores, facilitating survival across different seasons on plant debris and overwintering structures.

The primary symptom of infection is the appearance of leaf spots, which vary in color, size, and shape depending on the host species. These spots often develop chlorotic halos as the tissue dies.
