The family Neohendersoniaceae comprises a diverse group of plant-pathogenic fungi classified within the order Pleosporales. These organisms are recognized as significant causative agents of various plant diseases, typically manifesting as localized tissue necrosis and leaf spots on a wide range of botanical hosts in diverse ecological settings.
These pathogens predominantly infect woody species, shrubs, and several agricultural crops. By invading the plant tissues through wounds or stomata, the fungus disrupts cellular functions and interferes with photosynthesis. In agricultural settings, the resulting damage can significantly weaken the host, leading to reduced yield and stunted growth.
