The appearance of "oily" patches on the fruit skin is a primary diagnostic symptom, indicating the breakdown of the fruit's outer layers due to the activity of pathogens or unfavorable physiological conditions.
This condition primarily affects stone fruits such as peaches, nectarines, and apricots. Symptoms typically begin as small, water-soaked spots that expand and develop a distinct greasy or oily sheen. If left untreated, these spots can harden, darken, and lead to deep cracking of the fruit tissue, making the crop susceptible to secondary fungal infections.
