Autumn Apple Variety
Description
Autumn variety selected by the Southern Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Growing. Obtained by crossing Borovinka with Uralskaya Ribbed. Authors: M. A. Mazunin and P. A. Zavoronkov. Widespread and recommended for cultivation in the Ural region.
Tree is tall with a spreading-pyramidal crown. Bark on the trunk and main branches is brown. Fruit-bearing on all types of fruit wood, occasionally bears fruit on last year's growth.
Shoots are light brown, thin, curved. Leaves are large, round-oval, boat-shaped, dark green, slightly hairy, with finely toothed edges.
Flowers are large, small-cup-shaped, whitish-pink, with a tall, slightly hairy pistil column, stigmas slightly raised above the anthers.
Fruits are medium-sized, flat-round. Skin is delicate, smooth, dry, greenish-yellow with red blush covering most of the fruit. Peduncle is medium length, thick, oblique.
Flesh is juicy, firm, creamy, pleasantly sour-sweet tasting.
Fruits contain 14.5% soluble solids, 10.6% sugars, 0.9% titratable acids, and 23 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Fruit storage life is 70-80 days.
Fruits are intended for fresh consumption and for processing into compotes, jams, and preserves.
Best pollinators for this variety: Nadezhda, Anis Purpurovyy, Miasskoe.
Trees begin fruiting on the 5th-6th year after grafting. Fruit production is regular in the first years, then becomes irregular. Yield up to 90 kg per tree.
Cold hardiness of Memory Zavoronkov variety is high. During years of epiphytotic scab, disease incidence is up to 2 points.
Advantages of the variety: good ecological adaptability, high yield, good fruit flavor and attractive fruit color.
Disadvantages of the variety: under prolonged high summer temperatures and dry air, taste quality decreases, some fruits drop before reaching edible ripeness.
