Description
BATIK is a spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety, characterized by medium maturity and dwarf height. It is intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Northwestern, Central Black Earth, Western Siberian, and Eastern Siberian regions, as well as the Middle Volga region. The variety is distinguished by high productive tillering and ecological plasticity, which allows it to adapt to different climatic conditions and ensure stable yield.
The yield of the BATIK variety varies depending on the region: in the Northwestern region it is about 41.0 c/ha, in the Central Black Earth region - 52.9 c/ha, in the Western Siberian region - 42.7 c/ha, in the Eastern Siberian region - 37.1 c/ha, and in the Middle Volga region - 27.1 c/ha. The maximum recorded yield reached 91.0 c/ha in the Oryol region. The grain of the variety differs in high quality, which makes it suitable for brewing production and grain-roughage use. Protein content in the grain ranges from 10.3 to 15.2%.
The BATIK variety has high resistance to a number of diseases, however it is susceptible to powdery and flag smut, as well as to root rots and helminthosporiosis. It is moderately resistant to damage by the Swedish fly. These features require a careful approach to crop protection and the application of agronomic measures to ensure maximum productivity and quality of the crop.
