Description
Barley variety Datcha — this is an winter cereal crop intended for grain production with high yield potential up to 9 tons per hectare. Plants reach a height of 90-100 cm and have a medium-maturing group with a vegetation period of 246-260 days. Seeds are characterized by large mass — 58 grams per thousand seeds, and protein content in the grain is 12-12.5%, ensuring high nutritional value of the product. The variety is distinguished by high adaptability to various agroclimatic conditions and is recommended for cultivation in all zones. One of the key advantages of the Datcha variety is its high resistance to adverse factors. Barley exhibits high drought resistance (9 points), cold resistance up to -12°C (9 points), as well as resistance to major diseases such as helminthosporiosis, powdery mildew, angular leaf spot, yellow rust, and rhihosporeiosis, with ratings from 7 to 9 points. Additionally, the variety demonstrates good resistance to lodging (8 points), contributing to stable yields and ease of harvesting. Besides grain use, barley Datcha can be used in crop rotations as a green manure, improving soil quality by enriching it with beneficial substances and microorganisms. This contributes to increased fertility and reduced need for organic and mineral fertilizers. The crop helps prevent development of diseases and pests such as scab and nematodes, making it a useful predecessor for potato planting. It is recommended to avoid planting barley before other cereal crops, and after it, it is better to plant legumes or cruciferous plants, such as peas, beans, cabbage, or radish.
