Description
Spring barley variety "Donetsk 15" is a medium-maturing steppe ecotype with a maturity period of 73 to 85 days. Plants are characterized by medium height (63 to 78 cm), narrow, linear-lanceolate leaves with a waxy coating, which contributes to their resilience under adverse conditions. The plant habit is erect, stems are medium-thick and resistant to lodging, ensuring good grain alignment and quality.
The variety exhibits high ecological plasticity and tolerance to soil and air drought, making it especially valuable for cultivation in arid steppe regions. It shows resistance to major barley diseases such as powdery mildew, helminthosporium, and root rots, and is weakly susceptible to loose and hard smut. These traits ensure stable yields and reduce the need for intensive plant protection.
Grain of the "Donetsk 15" variety is distinguished by high uniformity (up to 95-97%) and high crude protein content (12.0-15.5%), making it suitable for both feed and food purposes. Under favorable conditions, 1000-grain weight reaches 53-55 g. Under drought and on unfertilized soils, the variety can maintain yields of 27-42 centners per hectare, confirming its high adaptability and economic efficiency for farmers.
