Description
The winter barley variety "Eney" is a medium-early, high-yielding variety recommended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including Polissia, Steppe, Forest-Steppe, as well as Central, Central-Chernozem, North Caucasus, Lower Volga, and West Siberian regions of Russia. This variety is highly adaptable to different growing conditions and responds well to fertilizer application. The vegetation period is 80-90 days, allowing for a stable harvest in a short time.
"Eney" exhibits high drought resistance, rated at 8-9 points, making it unique among barley varieties. The stem is strong, 75-80 cm tall, semi-erect, with good bushiness and resistance to lodging (9 points). The ear is two-rowed, medium length, cylindrical, with long awns having anthocyanin coloring at the tips. The grain is large, yellow, with 1000-grain weight ranging from 39 to 51 grams, clearly marked with a husk and long hairs.
The variety is characterized by resistance to several diseases, including powdery mildew, helminthosporium, rust, downy mildew, black rust, and fusarium. Grain shattering is rated at 9 points, indicating high grain retention. Based on state trials, yields reach 54.5-55.7 c/ha, with potential yields of 7-10 t/ha. Protein content in the grain ranges from 10.1-16.1%, making it suitable for both grain and fodder purposes.
