Description
LAUREATE is a medium-early variety of spring brewing barley, characterized by high and stable yields reaching up to 6 tons per hectare. It is widely used in the brewing industry and approved for whiskey production, demonstrating good alcohol yield rates of about 430-440 liters per ton of grain. The variety is ideal for cultivation on medium and better quality soils, making it a versatile choice for various regions.
LAUREATE plants are low-growing, with high resistance to stem lodging and shattering, which helps preserve the yield. The variety has high resistance to major barley diseases, including powdery mildew, rhynchosporium, barley rust, and net blotch, but is susceptible to powdery seedling blight and stone sower, and highly susceptible to root rots. The grain is characterized by high bulk weight (1000 grains weigh 41-51 g), high uniformity and density, low content of awns and protein, which positively affects the quality of the final product.
The recommended sowing rate at optimal timing is 300-350 viable seeds per square meter, which corresponds to approximately 150-170 kg per hectare. Due to its qualities and characteristics, the LAUREATE variety is one of the most popular and in-demand in beer and whiskey production, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
