Description
Laureate — a new spring barley variety for brewing, distinguished by high and stable yields across various European regions, including Central and Central Chernozem regions of Russia. A mid-season variety intended for the brewing industry, it demonstrates yields up to 83.8 centners per hectare, confirmed by trials in the Moscow Region. Plants are low-growing with good resistance to lodging and spike breakage, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses.
One of the key features of the Laureate variety is its high resistance to major barley diseases such as powdery mildew, rhiñhosporiosis, barley rust, and net blotch. It shows moderate resistance to downy mildew and stone fruit rot, but is susceptible to angular leaf spot and root rots. The grain is characterized by high test weight (MTZ), uniformity, and density, as well as low levels of screenings and protein, positively affecting its quality as brewing raw material.
Laureate is ideally suited for cultivation on medium to high-quality soils. The recommended seeding rate at optimal sowing times is 300-350 germinating seeds per square meter, which corresponds approximately to 150-170 kg per hectare. Due to its characteristics and grain quality, this variety is widely used in the brewing industry and approved for producing high-quality brewing raw materials.
