Odyssey

Barley variety Odyssey is an early-maturing two-row variety, characterized by high adaptability to growing conditions and suitable for all agro-climatic zones of Ukraine. The vegetation period ranges from 70 to 87 days, and plant height reaches 70-80 cm. The variety features a high thousand-grain weight — from 48 to 56 grams, as well as resistance to lodging and spike breakage, ensuring reliable harvests.

Odyssey possesses high genetic resistance to major barley diseases, including rust, rhiophytophthora, net blotch, and fusarium, with resistance ratings of 7 out of 9. Additionally, the variety demonstrates high resistance to stress factors and stem breakage, contributing to stable yields under varying conditions. The recommended seeding rate is 160-185 kg/ha or 4.5-5.0 million seeds per hectare, which is optimal for achieving maximum productivity.

The potential yield of this variety reaches 6 tons per hectare, while actual yields on unprepared soils amount to 25-27 centners per hectare. With the application of nitrogenous mineral fertilizers at sowing, the yield can increase to 35-38 centners per hectare, reaching up to 85 centners per hectare under favorable conditions. The high quality of malt makes barley Odyssey an excellent choice for beer and whiskey production, confirming its demand in brewing and distilling industries.
