Description
Podiv is a bright representative of spring barley, developed through selection in Ukraine and included in the State Register of Plant Varieties in 2016. This variety belongs to the large-grain cereal crops of intensive type, intended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polissia zones. Podiv is characterized by a medium-early maturity period and belongs to the nutans variety. Plant height reaches 60-70 cm, and the ear is two-rowed, which facilitates harvesting and increases yield. One of the key features of the Podiv variety is high yield, which can reach up to 90 centners per hectare, or 9.0 tons per hectare. The thousand-grain weight is 52-55 grams, with protein content ranging between 12.0-13.5%, making the grain valuable for cereal use. The grain density is 680 g, and the seed count per hectare reaches 4.5-5.0 million, ensuring a sowing density of 200-225 kg per hectare. The variety exhibits high resistance to diseases such as helminthosporiosis and powdery mildew, as well as high resistance to lodging and shattering, significantly reducing losses during harvest. Podiv demonstrates excellent adaptation to cultivation conditions in Ukraine, especially in forest-steppe and Polissia regions. Sowing periods are early, allowing effective use of agronomic practices and stable yields. The variety shows high drought resistance, rated at 8 points, and lodging resistance at 8.5 points, making it a reliable choice for farmers seeking maximum productivity and grain quality. Due to its characteristics, barley Podiv is widely used in cereal production and is a promising variety for intensive agriculture.
