The spring barley variety "Reliable" is a medium-maturing semi-dwarf variety intended primarily for brewing. The plant is characterized by short height and lodging resistance due to a sturdy stem. The vegetative period ranges from 71 to 89 days, allowing the variety to mature slightly earlier or later than a number of other popular varieties. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 41 to 51 grams, and the grain differs in size and lacks pubescence on the ventral groove. The ear is pyramidal-cylindrical in shape with medium density, long awned awns, and medium wax coating. The "Reliable" variety demonstrates high yield, exceeding average indicators in the Central and Volga-Vyatka regions, with a maximum recorded value of 88.2 c/ha. It is moderately resistant to root rots and possesses drought resistance at the level of standard varieties. The plant has an intermediate bush type, glumes of lower leaves without pubescence, and medium anthocyanin coloration of flag leaf ears. These characteristics make the variety adapted to various soil-climatic conditions, recommended for cultivation in a number of regions of Russia. Growing spring barley "Reliable" is profitable due to a short vegetative period and relatively low resource expenditures compared to winter crops. The optimal seed germination temperature is 10–15°C, and for active vegetation – 15–20°C. To achieve maximum productivity, it is recommended to use modern agrotechnologies, including precision agriculture and differential fertilizer application. The variety responds well to mineral top-dressing and micro-fertilizers, which contributes to stable crop formation and increased production profitability.
