Description
Remonto is a winter barley variety with an alternative development type, known for its stability and adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions. It features a six-row, cylindrical, and loose head measuring 5-6 cm in length, with thin and elastic awns equal in length to the head. The grain is large and elongated, while the culm is characterized by high strength and a plant height ranging from 85 to 91 cm. This early-ripening variety has a short vernalization period, allowing for the formation of a full-grain even with early spring sowing. Remonto is characterized by high frost- and drought-resistance, as well as resistance to lodging, making it high-tech and reliable when growing. This barley is distinguished by high yields, reaching about 9 tons per hectare, and resistance to a number of diseases, including dwarf rust, powdery mildew, and smut diseases. The weight of 1000 grains varies from 39 to 51 grams, with protein content ranging from 8.1 to 12.3%, making it a valuable grain-feed variety. Despite susceptibility to loose smut, the variety retains its main advantages and is widely used in agriculture. Remonto is also valued for its food qualities: unpolished barley of this variety is rich in beneficial substances, has a low glycemic index, and can be stored for a long time without oxidation. It is used for the production of whole-grain barley flour, natural kvass, decoctions, and infusions, and is also suitable for sprouting. Thanks to these properties, Remonto is a universal and in-demand barley variety for both agricultural production and the food industry.
