The "Signal" barley variety is the result of long-term collaborative work between the ICG SB RAS and the Federal Altai Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnologies. This spring two-row barley variety has undergone rigorous testing in the Siberian climate, which has defined its high adaptability and demand in regions characterized by challenging farming conditions.

Agronomic Potential and Disease Resistance

The key feature of "Signal" lies in its comprehensive resistance to pathogens that annually reduce yield potential. The variety demonstrates clear immunity to covered smut. Furthermore, the selection process focused on restricting the development of Mycosphaerella leaf spot, various types of rot, and brown spot. This "genetic armor" allows farmers to reduce the number of fungicide treatments during critical growth phases.

Grain Parameters and Ripening

"Signal" is categorized as a mid-season variety with a vegetation period of 80–90 days. This makes it a practical tool for crop rotation in operations where precise planting and harvesting schedules are critical. The two-row ear forms heavy grain with high bulk density. The stability of this trait is confirmed by a wide range of thousand-seed weight: from 40 to 52 grams, allowing for flexible seeding rates depending on soil fertility and the level of agricultural technology employed.
