SPRINTER

Sprinter is an early-maturing variety of winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), intended for grain and fodder use. It features a medium-tall, semi-erect culm with an erect, cylindrical, and dense head. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 36 to 44 grams; the grain is semi-long and medium-sized. The vegetative period ranges from 206 to 250 days, allowing it to mature 5-8 days earlier compared to the standard variety Mykhailo.

The Sprinter variety is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, particularly in the Central zone of Krasnodar Krai, where the average yield reaches 49.9 ц/га, and the potential yield according to the originator's data can reach 100 ц/га. The variety differs by its high resistance to lodging and winter hardiness at the level of the standard. Under field conditions, it is weakly affected by powdery mildew and brown rust, and has medium resistance to helminthosporiosis.

Protein content in the grain varies from 11.0 to 15.6%, and hullingness is 9.4–10.7%. Thanks to its agrotechnical characteristics and disease resistance, the Sprinter variety is a reliable choice for agricultural production, ensuring a stable and high grain yield in recommended regions.
