Description
Stalii is a spring barley variety developed in Ukraine and intended for cultivation in the Polissia region. It belongs to the medium-maturing group with a vegetation period of 79 to 88 days and plant height of 57 to 64 cm. Seeds have a mass of 44-48 g per thousand, and the recommended sowing rate is 4-4.5 million seeds per hectare. The yield potential of this variety reaches 6.5 tons per hectare, making it attractive for grain production and brewing industry.
The Stalii variety is characterized by high drought resistance, rated at 8 points, as well as resistance to major barley diseases, including helminthosporiosis, powdery mildew, and various forms of rust, with resistance ratings of 8 to 9 points. Additionally, it exhibits good resistance to lodging and shattering, which contributes to yield retention and quality improvement. Protein content in the grain varies from 12 to 14.3%, meeting requirements for use in food and brewing industries.
For successful cultivation of this variety, it is recommended to choose optimal preceding crops such as peas (winter and spring), corn, rapeseed, and soybeans. Seeds should be stored at air temperatures from +7 to +10°C and humidity not exceeding 10%. Due to its characteristics and adaptation to regional climatic conditions, barley Stalii is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality yields.
