VALKYRIA

Winter barley variety VALKYRIA is a medium-early, high-yielding variety with an alternative growth type (dwarf), developed by the Selection and Genetics Institute of the National Center for Seed Production and Variety Testing. Plants reach a height of about 80 cm, providing a compact structure and simplifying harvest, reducing the risk of lodging. The ear is six-rowed with medium density, having 11-12 nodes per 4 cm of ear stem, medium-sized, yellow, elongated grains. The 1000-grain weight is 37.8-39.5 g. The seeding rate is 4.0-4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare.

Valkyria variety is characterized by high yield — 9-10 tons per hectare, ensuring high profitability for agricultural enterprises. It is recommended for cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe and forest-steppe, demonstrating high adaptability and resilience to changing weather conditions. The variety is resistant to low temperatures, has high drought tolerance and resistance to grain shattering, which helps preserve the yield and improve product quality.

Valkyria has immunity to powdery mildew diseases, as well as resistance to rust and helminthosporiosis, significantly reducing the risk of losses due to diseases. High protein content in the grain — 11.5% — makes this variety attractive for producing high-quality grain. Thanks to its dense and sturdy stem structure, as well as stable yield, the Valkyria variety is a reliable choice for agronomists aiming for stable and efficient winter barley production.
