The BDT 4 heavy-duty disc harrow is designed for primary tillage where aggressive soil penetration is paramount. Its design utilizes a two-row symmetrical layout, ensuring load balance across the frame even during high-speed field operations.

The core of the working mechanism consists of large-diameter notched spherical discs. The notches are crucial: they increase specific ground pressure, which facilitates the cutting of tough crop residues like corn stalks or sunflower stems that would otherwise clog smooth discs. The spherical geometry of the BDT 4 is optimized to ensure effective furrow inversion at depths up to 18–20 cm, essential for incorporating organic matter and encouraging early weed germination.

Key Structural Features

• Frame Rigidity: The main frame is constructed from high-strength steel tubing with a wall thickness capable of absorbing intense vibration. This robust design minimizes the risk of structural fatigue or weld failures when operating in dry, hard, or rocky soil conditions.
• Disc Gang Assembly: The gang shaft is assembled using high-tensile components. Discs are rigidly locked on the axle, preventing rotation slippage when striking obstacles. Special attention has been given to the bearing housings, which feature heavy-duty seals that effectively block dust and abrasive soil particles, significantly extending maintenance intervals.
• Gang Angle Adjustment: The BDT 4’s adjustable gang angle mechanism allows operators to quickly fine-tune the harrow for specific field conditions. Increasing the angle enhances penetration depth and soil pulverization, while a shallower angle reduces draft resistance and fuel consumption in lighter soil types.

This harrow is built for farms that require a reliable tool for intensive seedbed preparation. Unlike lighter disc cultivators, the BDT 4 utilizes its own mass to ensure consistent, stable operating depth, which is vital for the uniform distribution of crop residue throughout the soil profile.
