Description
APF 190T is a thornless, repeat-bearing blackberry variety developed in the United States of America and patented under number US PP28,598 P3 in 2017. The plants have upright growth habit with smooth, vigorous canes up to 2 meters long, colored green with purple tints and a slight bluish bloom. Leaves are bright green, rhombic in shape with a pointed tip. Despite the upright cane growth, for increased yield, it is recommended to tie and pinch canes twice at 50 cm height. The variety is cold-hardy, frost-tolerant, and resistant to diseases such as anthracnose and rust. APF 190T berries are large, weighing 7–9 grams, conical in shape, black and glossy. They exhibit high firmness, ensuring excellent transportability and long-term storage under refrigerated conditions — particularly important for commercial cultivation and long-distance shipping. The berries have a sweet, rich flavor, surpassing the sweetness of many well-known varieties, such as 'Natchez' and 'Ouachita'. Fruit ripening occurs on both two-year and one-year-old canes: the first harvest ripens in early June, and the second in late July or early August, allowing for prolonged fruiting until mid-October in southern regions. The APF 190T variety is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions due to its cold tolerance and disease resistance. Its repeat-bearing nature allows for diverse cultivation methods, ensuring a stable and high yield of up to 3 kg per plant. Due to the combination of all advantages of previous Prime Ark family hybrids, APF 190T is a versatile and promising variety suitable for both commercial fresh berry production and home gardens.
