Elliott

Elliott blueberry is a popular, high-yielding late-ripening variety, ripening from early September to mid-October. The bushes of this variety are tall, reaching up to 2 meters in height, with dense crowns and strong, compact branches. Berries are medium-sized, intensely dark blue with a good waxy coating, having dense, juicy flesh with a pleasant sweet dessert aroma. Under cold weather, the taste may become slightly tart. The calyx of the berries is small, dry, and neat, and the fruits are clustered in medium to low density, which facilitates harvesting, including mechanized harvesting.

The variety is characterized by high cold resistance — it withstands temperatures down to -29 °C, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including Ukraine. Elliott is drought-resistant and has high immunity, including against fruit rot. This blueberry variety is self-fertile, but yield significantly increases when other varieties with overlapping flowering periods are present. With proper agronomic practices, one bush can produce 5 to 7 kg of berries, although initial yields on young plants are usually modest.

In addition to taste and agronomic advantages, Elliott blueberry possesses beneficial properties. Berries are natural antioxidants, help normalize metabolic processes, strengthen immunity, and positively affect blood circulation. They contain vitamins B1, B2, PP, C, A, as well as microelements such as calcium, phosphorus, and iron. Blueberry leaves can be used to prepare teas and infusions with toning effects and fat-burning properties.
