Description
Blueberry 'Titanium' is a tall dessert variety developed by American scientists and introduced to the market by Blueberry Farms and Nurseries from Oregon. The bushes of this variety are upright, relatively compact, and vigorous, reaching a height of about 1.5 meters. The bark of the bushes has a reddish hue, and the fruit clusters are long, contributing to high yields. The average weight of the berries is about 2 grams, and their diameter ranges from 17 to 28 mm. The berries have a slightly flattened shape, a deep blue color with a characteristic light-blue bloom, a firm skin, and a firm texture, ensuring excellent transportability and long-term storage.
The 'Titanium' variety is distinguished by its high yield — up to 6 to 9 kg of berries can be harvested from one bush, which corresponds to approximately 20 tons per hectare under large-scale cultivation. The blueberries ripen in mid-late season, about 5-7 days later than the 'Duke' variety and slightly earlier than the 'Draper' variety. The variety is self-pollinating, but cross-pollination significantly improves fruit quality and size. Due to their firm skin and high frost resistance, the berries withstand transportation and long-term storage well, making this variety especially attractive for commercial cultivation and mechanical harvesting.
The berries of the 'Titanium' variety have a sweet flavor with a delicate aroma and a slight tartness, giving them a unique charm. They are versatile in use: suitable for fresh consumption, as well as ideal for home preservation, freezing, jam-making, compotes, and baking. Thanks to their excellent taste and high yield, this variety is popular among gardeners and commercial blueberry producers.
